Movie: Railway Man
Jan's Rating: B+
Time: 108 Minutes
Jan's Review: A friend told me that he had seen Railway Man and that Dave and I should try to rent it. Well, could not find it to rent anywhere but was able to buy it at BestBuy.com. I think everyone should see this movie just so they would appreciate our Veterans more. It really opens your eyes. It is a true story of Eric Lomax (played by Colin Firth) who was a British Army Officer during WW-II, and the Japanese soldier that almost beat him to death in a prison camp. It was actually hard to watch, and find it hard to believe that anyone could treat another human with such violence. After the war, Eric Lomax married Patti (played by Nicole Kidman) and she soon saw how deeply her husband had been affected by those beatings, though she knew nothing about them. He probably had the worst case of PTSD ever recorded. She learned of his beatings through a friend who had served in the same war with her husband. They found out that the Japanese soldier who had nearly beat him to death, was still alive, and giving tours through the same prison camp in Singapore where Eric had been a prisoner of war. Eric makes the decision to go to Singapore and confront his worst enemy. I won't tell you the rest because I think you should see it for yourself.
